Earthcare Partners Program

Environmental Leadership

We are partnering with organizations like the Food Literacy Project, Louisville Nature Center, Louisville Grows, and the Nature Conservancy for events that help us see how we can respond to our call to be better stewards of the planet.  In October and November, you will have several opportunities to see first-hand the great work that these organizations are doing and hear the compelling stories that called them into this right relationship with others and the Earth.  We will visit their sites, tour their facilities, explore the drive behind their missions, and make connections with meditation and contemplative awareness. There is a $5.00 registration fee and donations will be collected.

The first of these events will be at the Louisville Nature Center

Monday, October 15 at 6:30 p.m.

Louisville Nature Center

The mission of the Louisville Nature Center is to provide nature education and encourage stewardship in an urban forest. The Center manages the Beargrass Creek State Nature Preserve, a 41-acre urban forest that provides critical greenspace and recreation opportunities in the city. The Preserve offers, over 2 miles of hiking trails and hundreds of species of trees, shrubs, wildflowers and other flora as well as resident and migratory birds, butterflies, and other fauna. Their management goals include preserving biodiversity, restoring habitat quality and maintaining safe trail conditions.

Earth & Spirit Center Gardens

The mission of the Food Literacy project is to provide farm-based food and environmental education for youth and families with the goal of inspiring a new generation of people to build relationships with healthy food, farming and the land.  Situated at Field Day Family Farm on the agricultural oasis between Oxmoor Country Club and Interstate 64, the Food Literacy Project has many programs that expose young people to urban agriculture.

We will provide transportation to the farm from the Earth & Spirit Center.  Board the bus in our parking lot by 6:15 pm on Monday, October 22 and we will return you to the center by 8:00 pm.
