Part 1 and Part 2

 

 

Part 1:  Four Wednesdays –  January 4, 11, 18, 25, 2017 (6:00pm – 8:30pm)

Part 2:  Four Thursdays – February 2, 9, 23, and March 2 (6:00pm – 8:30pm)

Self-Compassion Retreat (open to current and prior self-compassion students) – February 12 (1pm-5pm)

Self-acceptance and self-compassion are essential qualities of happiness and success, and they form a core component of the resilience required to face our rapidly changing and stressful world.  This course will introduce you to the current understanding of self-compassion, why compassion is an essential part of our nature, and offer tools that can be used to help you remember and return to the basic nature of who you are.  This evidence-based class was developed by Kristen Neff and Christopher Germer and is now taught internationally.  Pamela has been teaching self-compassion for several years, has recently competed the MSC training, and is currently a teacher-in-training for MSC.  She also adds somatic practices she has adapted from her experience of Aikido, a Japanese martial art.  This class is designed to be taught as a whole, but we are offering it in three parts so you can register for the amount of class time that works best for you. 

 

Part 1:  Learn the basic of self-compassion:  the three components of offering self-compassion to yourself, how we cause ourselves unnecessary suffering, and tools you can use to increase your self-compassion.

 

Part 2:  This class continues the MSC program and addresses strong emotions, including shame as well as offers additional tools for your self-compassion toolbox.  Part 2 is open to anyone who has completed a 4-week self-compassion class with Pamela. 

 

Retreat:  This retreat is an opportunity to practice in silence and for an extended period, moving through practices that are familiar as well as some that are likely new for most of you.  It is a chance to move deeper into the self-compassion practices.  The retreat is open to all the current MSC students as well as anyone who has previously taken a 4-week self-compassion course with Pamela.

Please note that emotions come up when working with self- compassion.  For that reason, if you are currently dealing with high trauma, are overwhelmed with emotions, or are recently in recovery, this class is not a good match for you at this time.
