Experience the life of a renunciate, known in India as a wandering “sadhu” (sage, ascetic). Immersed in the beautiful nature reserve of the Earth and Spirit Center, the day will be spent alternating between walking the forest and fields together in silence, then stopping at chosen sites to sit in meditation, chant sutras, prayers and hear teachings of the spiritual masters. Each participant will privately receive a classic mantra for the day long practice.
If weather is inclement, the retreat will be held in the barn set-up in the style of a Zen Buddhist monastery. The day will be spent combining an alternating practice of za-zen, sutra chanting, prayers, vows and teachings from the spiritual masters.
Facilitator: Richard Sisto. Richard began meditation in 1965 with Soyu Matsuoka Roshi and has continued to the pres- ent in face to face practice with Thomas Merton, Hari Das Baba, Gary Snyder, Satchidananda, Yogi Bhajan, Seung San, the Dalai Lama and others.
